How we are organized

Leadership from lay people is critical in the congregations of the United Methodist Church. The core groups described here take on important roles in the lay leadership of Kenwood United Methodist Church. Please contact the church office or pastor to find out more about how you can be a part of one of these groups.

  • Administrative (Church) Council - This is the core leadership body of the church and includes chairs of all committees. This group makes decisions about the administration and organization of the church. The Administrative Council should envision, plan, implement, and evaluate the mission and ministry of the church.
  • Board of Trustees - These elected church members are in charge of the supervision, oversight, care, maintenance, and security of the church buildings and property.
  • The Staff/Parish Relations Committee - This elected group serves the personnel function of the church and is responsible for staff hiring, evaluation, and mediating concerns between staff (including pastors) and the congregation. It is the group that connects the pastor, staff, and congregation to focus on the mission of the church.

    Additional groups at Kenwood take the leadership roles on outreach, communications, Christian education, worship, and music. We are always interested in engaging those who have a calling, skills, or interest in any of these areas. We welcome your participation and input.
