Do I need to be a member to participate in services at Kenwood?
No. Everyone is welcome to participate in worship at Kenwood United Methodist Church. Most information needed for participation during our services is provided in the bulletin with additional prompting from the Pastors, Director of Music Ministries and lay persons leading that day.
May I receive Holy Communion if I am not a member?
All Christians are welcome at our table, whatever their denomination. Holy Communion is considered a sacrament in the United Methodist Church. That is, it is an act of worship ordained by Christ and is a means of grace. We use common, physical gifts of the earth, bread and the unfermented juice of the grape. At Kenwood United Methodist Church we celebrate the sacrament of Holy Communion on the first Sunday of each month, and on major church festivals. Is it possible to be Baptized at Kenwood?
(Our Church, umc.org)
Yes. Holy Baptism is a sacrament in the United Methodist Church. It is a symbol of new life and a sign of God's love and forgiveness of our sins. Persons of any age can be baptized. We baptize by sprinkling, immersion or pouring. Through baptism we are joined with the church and with Christians everywhere. A person receives the sacrament of baptism only once in his or her life.

(2008 Book of Discipline)
After spending time in our Christian community we invite you to share your interest in membership with one of the Pastors or a congregational leader.
You will have opportunities to become familiar with Kenwood and the United Methodist Church by participation in an orientation class, and through conversations with members and the Pastors. We will celebrate your reception into membership during Sunday worship. Holy Baptism and reception into membership may take place at the same time.
