In the year 2003 we will do something very different. We will have two stewardship pledging invitations for our members. You may recall that this became necessary because of the decision to change the fiscal year to a January through December calendar. Therefore we will be having a stewardship effort for your pledges to the budget for July-December of 2003 (the rest of this calendar year). Then in the fall when we have the 2004 budget before you, we will offer an opportunity to pledge to the church for the year 2004. We have looked at some very interesting Stewardship materials which we will be sharing with the congregation this month. The materials are prepared by Le Way, and entitled “Celebrate the Gift”.
You will soon receive a letter introducing the stewardship program. Each Sunday morning in worship we will be celebrating a particular gift which we experience as part of the Kenwood community. On the 4th Sunday in June you will have opportunity to return your pledge during worship, and will receive a surprise gift in recognition of your pledge. We will then enjoy a pot luck lunch together. (And if we are handy with our calculator we hope to announce the results of the pledge effort by the end of the lunch. Otherwise we will announce it in a mailing that will be sent out the next day.) Come and “Celebrate the Gift” that being a part of ministry at Kenwood UMC offers during these weeks in June.
